NATURAL AMAZONIAN ERASER
The Natural Amazonian Eraser is made to erase pencil writing and is produced with up to 78% renewable raw materials, one of which is latex from native rubber trees in the Amazon region. The latex is typically collected during the dry season, from May to August, as the rubber tree sap flows better with less moisture in the air. The sustainable management of latex in the Amazon helps preserve the forest by maintaining biodiversity, reducing deforestation, valuing traditional knowledge, and promoting socio-economic development. Since 2010, Mercur has been running the Native Rubber Project, which aims to contribute to the preservation of the forest peoples' culture by purchasing latex from rubber tappers in protected areas like the Rio Xingu, Riozinho do Anfrísio, Rio Iriri Extractive Reserves, and the Xipaya Indigenous Land in Pará, and more recently from the Igarapé Lourdes Indigenous Land in Rondônia. The decision to buy from traditional producerd goes beyond the economic aspect. Mercur's long-term strategy is about preserving the standing forest and the traditional ways of life of the populations who help conserve it. That’s why we believe every eraser you use can make a difference. Join us and help keep the #LivingAmazon
