Beadwork
Using colorful beads, Kayapó women create bracelets, necklaces, and earrings that are true works of art. Kayapó women have developed extraordinary skills in beadwork. In the past, these adornments were made only with materials from the forest, but since discovering glass beads, Kayapó women have found new possibilities in combining colors and graphic patterns in their art. The beads used are imported from the Czech Republic and are considered the best beads in the world. The designs made with the beads are usually inspired by elements of Kayapó cosmology, such as the tortoise, gourd, armadillo, and snake.
