Molongó Craft
Molongó crafts are produced using wood carving techniques on a tree known locally as Molongó (Malouetia tamaquarina) by artisans from the Nova Colômbia community in the Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve in the Solimões Territory. Molongó crafts include various products such as utility or decorative handmade items and educational toys that depict landscapes and figures of the region's fauna and flora. The production of the items follows a model of good practice in the sustainable management of molongó trees, developed as a result of research by the Mamirauá Institute. Sustainable management aims to ensure the continuity of forest resources while balancing conservation and income generation for the community.
