HONEY
The Xingu Indigenous Honey brand was created in 2001 when commercial beekeeping began in the Xingu Park. It was the first Indigenous product in Brazil to receive federal inspection certification – SIF – and the organic product seal. For the peoples of the park, honey commercialization is very important as it generates income while contributing to food security. Beekeeping does not interfere with the continuation of traditional activities. It is a profitable and sustainable business that does not harm the environment in which they live. The ecological characteristics and environmental integrity of the park are ideal for beekeeping, ensuring high product quality of the product and market recognition. Xingu Indigenous honey values the diversity of forest landscapes and the flowers that exist in the Xingu Park. Each jar of honey carries the flavor and aroma characteristics of the wildflowers that dominate the forest landscape of each producing village.
