BANIWA PEPPER
The pepper mixture used in the production of this delicious chocolate comes from the fields of the Baniwa women in the Rio Negro Territory. Baniwa Jiquitaia Pepper is a product of the traditional agricultural system of the Rio Negro (AM), recognized as Brazilian cultural heritage by the National Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage (Iphan). Jiquitaia peppers are an exclusive mixture of dozens of different varieties of peppers from the Capsicum spp genus, traditionally grown by Baniwa women in pepper fields and gardens. The production of Baniwa Jiquitaia Pepper is now an important source of income and a means of empowering Baniwa women, who are the protagonists of the entire production process.
